What’s on at West Notts: September

September sees an influx of new and returning students to the college, and the opportunity to start afresh and move forward on to new and exciting adventures as a student at West Notts.

Being a student at college gives you a new level of independence, and aims to best prepare you for life as an adult. College is a great place to gain all those additional skills you need to achieve your ambitions. You’ll gain new friends, new experiences, and make new memories too.

Alongside your course there’s so much for you to get involved in. Students are expected to take up work placements to give them an insight into various industries, and help get them ready for work once they leave us. You can also choose to get involved in volunteering and give something back to your local community – which looks great on both your CV or UCAS applications.

The college’s Academy of Sport will be recruiting for new members – and is perfect for those who enjoy sport at a competitive level. There are also a number of sporting activities and fitness classes that you can get involved in for fun – from swimming and ice skating, to Zumba.

Students of the college are also automatically enrolled as a member of the Students’ Union, and there’ll be events throughout the year for you to take part in, from fundraising to fun days – and external trips too.

All we ask is that you make the most of your time here – there are some great ways to boost your confidence and ensure you’re picking up all the additional skills to make you stand out from the crowd when moving on to your next venture, be it university or employment.

We’re holding a late applicants’ event on 6 September from 5.30pm-7.30pm. Come along to speak to our tutors about the range of A Levels, vocational courses and apprenticeships available at West Notts. You can find out more on our open evenings and events page, here.

While most of our courses begin in September, apprenticeships opportunities are available all year round – great for those who are looking for a new avenue into the career of their choice. As an apprentice, you’re not only gaining experience and skills – you’re getting paid for it too.
The college is one of the largest college providers of apprenticeships in the UK. You can view our current vacancies at www.visionapprentices.co.uk or call one of our advisors on 0800 121 8317.

We hope you all enjoy your first term at college. Remember to check in with us on Facebook and Twitter, and if you share a photo to Instagram remember to use the hashtag #westnottslife, and we will share the best ones on the digital screens across campuses!
