There’s plenty going on in March at West Notts. Whether you’re looking to help out a good cause or visit the college’s contemporary theatre to see a show, there’s so much to check out, outside of lesson time!
Between 6 and 10 March is National Careers Week and National Apprenticeship week, and the college will be hosting a range of activities, including a Careers and Employability fair on Wednesday 8 March at the Derby Road campus between 10.30am and 1.30pm. Students will be able to pop along and meet with local employers, get tips on CVs and interview prep, and general careers advice, too.
As part of Fairtrade Fortnight, you’ll be able to try the “Smoothie bike” at the Construction Centre on 6 March, and Derby Road on 8 March between 12 and 2pm.
Create Theatre are showing family-friendly theatre on Sunday 12 March as ‘The Giant Jam Sandwich’ comes to the stage on. Tickets are £8 each (just £6 for students) or £25 for a family of four (2 adults, 2 children). A great show for family and little ones (aged 3-7 years), so come along with your children or younger siblings and enjoy an afternoon out.
The college will also be hosting an Apprenticeships Information Evening on Wednesday 15 March which will allow people to come along with parents and friends, to meet with advisors, find out more about apprenticeships, and even apply for vacancies!
The Big Snore charity event organised by homelessness charity Framework will be held at the college on Friday 24 March and will see hundreds of volunteer fundraisers sleeping out under the stars in order to raise awareness of the plight of homeless people in the town. Participants can enjoy food, games and entertainment in the evening to keep spirits high.
There’s still time to sign up and you can find out more about the event, here.
Mother’s Day falls on Sunday 26 March this year – so why not treat your mother, or just someone you love to a pampering treat at Revive; the college’s own hair and beauty salon and spa. Prices for treatments are competitively-priced, they also sell great gift sets and vouchers too – just ask at reception.
Refined are once again hosting a number of ‘themed evenings’ each Wednesday through March. From a taste of Italy to a special St Patrick’s Day themed menu, come along and sample the culinary delights of our hospitality and cookery students. To find out more or to book, call Refined on 01623 413629.
Don’t forget, you can still go and play Raveminton in the sport’s hall on a Thursday lunchtime. Enjoy badminton with a difference; with UV lights and some top tunes.
As always the Students’ Union will be busy with activities and events, keep on top of what’s happening by following them on Facebook.
